Do I have to pay for the training all at once?

Answer

The progression towards gaining a license is a combination of many things.  These include passing six theory exams, being signed off as fit to fly by an aviation doctor, having a police and traffic check done, an assessment of your English speaking ability, and completing the flight training syllabus.

The Flight Training is the most expensive part of a license, but you do not need to pay for it all at once.  The training you do is recognised world-wide, and even if you move clubs, the training you have done still counts.  Each flight covers a new exercise and practices the previous ones, and towards the end of the training you will put all these skills together in a longer series of flights to different airports.

Each flight is paid for at the end of the lesson, and you progress at a pace which is suitable with your existing commitments and priorities.  Budget $200 for each lesson, and if you fly once a week, you could have your license in 12 to 18 months.  The total cost of each license varies with the individual but an approximate cost for a PPL is $14,000
