History of Airline Flying Club
Airline Flying Club was originally founded to provide airline staff with a place to enjoy recreational aviation. Airline Flying Club was later opened to the public as well. Airline Flying Club’s current location at 700 Harvard Lane is Airline Flying Club’s fourth location, having been previously located at the current Auckland Aero Club, as well as Auckland International Airport.
Airline Flying Club is a great place to fly. Conveniently located 10 minutes from Manukau, Airline Flying Club is the home to many recreational and commercial pilots. The clubrooms are well equipped for flight training, with professional flying instructors – many of whom work in the airlines for a job.
The Airline Flying Club lounge and bar provide a place to relax and swap stories, while watching aircraft movements on the airfield. The Airline Flying Club bar is open regularly from 6pm till late, and from 4pm on Sunday.
Airline Flying Club is a volunteer organisation that relies on members’ involvement. All Flying Instructors have full time jobs and teach at Airline Flying Club as paid volunteers. Airline Flying Club has a committee to oversee the vision and direction of the club. Everyone who flies at Airline Flying Club must be a financial member. This is for insurance reasons, as well as providing use of the clubrooms and bar, and access to aircraft and instructors.
